Description
This 1850’s Berlin work Pattern by Hertz & Wegener has been in my family’s possession since its creation, having been passed down to me some 30 years ago, by a great aunt. It has been behind glass in a gilt frame and until you get close to it, you do not realize it is not an oil painting but rather a pattern. The design is very large and detailed, which the later is a trademark of this company. The pattern hails at 224 stitches wide by 304 stitches tall and uses 68 DMC colors. The composition centers around two large cabbage roses with a camellia, tulip and cactus flower rounding out the predominate flowers. A striking piece in anyone’s home.
