Description

This pattern of two of the period’s favorite pets, is an un-numbered one by C. Franke & Seicke of Berlin.  These patternmakers had a short reign compared to many others of the time lasting from just 1840-1858.  Absent of the pattern number, but based on the design, I would put this in the early part of the 1850’s as the colors are bright and cheerful, in stark contrast from those after Prince Albert’s death, in the 1860’s.  The design is quite large at 303 stitches wide by 376 stitches tall and can be altered to show just the main characters of the piece without destroying the entire composition.  Overall as show, there are 97 DMC colors used in the creation that match the original.
