~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HEINRICH KUEHN SPANIEL - $13 USD
This pattern of a Spaniel by Heinrich Kuehn of Berlin appears to be from the late 1860's even though it is not numbered as the hand painting of the graph paper was very sloppy and colors over ran each other.  This was a sharp decline from earlier patterns by him.  This was a result of the demand for more patterns at a faster pace and accuracy was somehow sacrificed.  The design is 151 stitches wide by 111 stitches tall and is made up of 28 DMC color.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PAIR OF RABBITS HW 8781 - $6 USD

This 1860's pair of rabbits is by Hertz & Wegener of Berlin and is part of their animal series I am told.  The pattern is 81 stitches wide by 70 stitches tall to the top of the Rabbit's ears.  To make the pattern large, this could be placed in either a scroll work frame or a floral border.  Both would look great.  There are 23 DMC colors used in the creation of this that match the original design.

The pattern number is 4001 and the typed description on the bottom says "Published in Berlin for the London Proprietors".  The design is 168 stitches wide by 178 stitches tall ad uses 77 DMC colors.

.

FAVORITE PETS - $30. USD

This pattern of two of the period's favorite pets, is an un-numbered one by C. Franke & Siecke of Berlin.  These patternmakers had a short reign compared to many others of the time, lasting from 1840-1858.  Absent of the pattern number, but based on the design, I would put this in the early part of the 1850s as the colors are bright and cheerful, in stark contrast from those after Prince Albert's death in the 1860's.  The design is quite large at 303 stitches wide by 376 stitches tall, and can be altered to show just the main characters of the piece without destroying the entire piece.  Overall as shown, there are 97 DMC colors used in the creation that match the original.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HK 9936 - $16 USD
This design by Heinrich Kuehn of Berlin is a sharp contrast of the fussiness of the 1860s.  The pattern hails from the early 1880s and shows the trend towards the arts and crafts movement by William Morris.  Woodland flowers and berries  make up the center motif while roses, berries and Pinecones make up the outer border.  The design can be used as is or broken up into parts and used as stand alone designs.  As shown the entire design is 182 stitches wide by 182 stitches tall and is made up of 36 DMC colors..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HK SUMMER SUNFLOWERS 9242 - $9 USD

Another early design by Heinrich Kuehn of Berlin from the arts and crafts era.  Again William Morris' influence is very evident.  The pattern number depicts that it is earlier than the previous pattern but it is still from the early 1880s.  The design is made up of sunflowers and other woodland  flowers.  The pattern is 106 stitches wide by 107 stitches tall and uses 22 DMC colors.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.
 HK 8810 - $11 USD
This Heinrich Kuehn pattern is dated 1879 and had a grey blue background as the suggested color choice.  I tried to match the color as close as possible as the original color is not available.  The composition is made up of summer flowers found on the forest floor with sprigs of ferns entwined.  The scrollwork was popular in the 1870s so it is a crossover pattern to the new craftsman era.  The design is 130 stitches wide by 130 stitches tall and uses 32 DMC colors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HK 9555 - $11 USD

This pattern is a stylistic and very modern for its time.  Another pattern by Heinrich Kuehn which shows that his business was on the edge of design.  Square in design it is asymmetrical in the flower placement.  The pattern is 135 stitches wide by 135 stitches tall and is made up of 34 DMC colors.

GRUNTHALS 3918 - $17 USD.

This 1840's pattern is by Grunthal's of Berlin.  Grunthal's was in operation a short time in comparison to some of the pattern makers, only from 1834 to 1862, and based on the pattern number this is from the early 1840s.  The design centers around fanciful shells set in a bouquet of leaves and wild roses.  A fairly large pattern it is 198 stitches wide by 190 stitches tall and is made up of 73 DMC colors.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HK 12275 GERANIUMS - $11 USD
This pattern by Heinrich Kuehn hails from the latter part of the 1880s or early part of the 1890s based on the number sequence of the pattern.  The design is shown exactly as the pattern was executed but could be easily changed from shades of rose to red.  If you want those numbers just ask when you order the pattern.  The design is almost square at 140 stitches wide by 138 stitches tall and is made up of 26 DMC colors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The following pairs of patterns were taken from a much larger carpet design by M Levi dated 1823.  I am not sure if that is the date of the pattern or the date the pattern was purchased, since he was in operation from 1818 to 1845.  The designs were encased in flowing ribbons which I have left off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TP DEVRIENT 301 - $16 USD
This 1830's pattern is by a lesser known patternmaker TP Devrient of Berlin and is pattern number 301 which places it very early in his career.  The design is oval in shape being 187 stitches wide by 158 stitches tall, using just 27 DMC colors.  The original design had the pink roses in red hues, which was very popular for the time and could easily changed back if desired.  It looked very harsh against the much lighter yellow and white roses.
. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HEINRICH KUEHN PURSE - $7 USD
This design by Heinrich Kuehn is not numbered but based on the design I would date it to the late 1860s.  It was originally designed to be a draw string purse, but I have squared it off so it would be more suitable as a pillow or chair seat.  The pattern is 140 stitches wide by 121 stitches tall and the latticework can be extended in both directions if a larger size needed, or the pattern would look just as attractive without the latticework.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

FW NEIE 1173 $10 USD

This 1850's pattern is a design of subtle opulence.  The white roses were meant to be executed in beading while the red leaves and scrollwork were to be done in wool.  The design is 220 wide by 141 stitches tall and can be enlarged or reduced in either direction as the stitcher desires.  There are 14 DMC colors in the pattern.

Following this design are two alternates both being of the same size and number of colors, just different color schemes.  The first alternate duplicates the white roses, however has green leaves and the second alternate has pink roses with green leaves.  Both designs use six shades of one color for the roses and can easily be altered to match a specific color scheme.
